Materials:

1 hank malabrigo Rasta

1 10mm 16” circular needle

1 set 10mm dpns

1 button

oddments of similar coloured yarn to sew on button

Abbreviations:

K= knit

Ssk= Slip 2 stitches 1 at a time knitwise. Insert lefthand needle into the fronts of these two stitches. Knit them together.

Sts= stitches

Directions:

With 10mm circular needles, cast on 45 sts. DO NOT JOIN.

Knit 5 rows

Row 6: cast off 5 sts, knit to end of row.

Round 7: place marker and join sts in round. Knit to end of round

Knit for 14 more rounds

Decreases:

* Note: When stitched become too few to comfortably fit on circular needle, change to dpns

Round 1: (ssk, K8), repeat ( ) 3 times more (36 sts remain)

Round 2: (ssk, K7), repeat ( ) 3 times more (32 sts remain)

Round 3: (ssk, K6), repeat ( ) 3 times more (28 sts remain)

Round4: (ssk, K5), repeat ( ) 3 times more (24 sts remain)

Round 5: (ssk, K4), repeat ( ) 3 times more (20 sts remain)

Round 6: (ssk, k3), repeat ( ) 3 times more (16 sts remain)

Round 7: (ssk, k2), repeat ( ) 3 times more (12 sts remain)

Round 8: (ssk, k1), repeat ( ) 3 times more (8 sts remain)

Round 9: (ssk), repeat ( ) 3 times

4 stitches remain

Draw yarn through remaining 4 sts. Fasten and weave in end

For Button Detail:

Overlap the tab at bottom of the hat with opposite edge of band. Secure band ends together by sewing button to hat through both layers of bands.

Weave in all ends.
